Rod Seals
Rod seal is a type of hydraulic seal designed to maintain sealing contact in a sliding motion between the cylinder head and the piston rod. Depending on the application, a rod sealing system can consist of a rod seal and a buffer seal, or a rod seal only. Rod sealing systems for heavy-duty applications typically consist of a combination of both seal types.
These seals are designed as lip seals, which have a flexible lip that contacts the rod and provides a barrier against fluid leakage. The lip is often made of materials like polyurethane, nitrile rubber, or other elastomers with good wear and chemical resistance.
